Although increasing handling ability is important, the importance of practicing proven gun training drills cannot be understated. Luckily there are many drills gun safe manufacturers have found to be extremely effective in optimizing handling skills.
One drill that’s essential is the “First-Shot Drill.” To practice this drill, stand around 10 yards from your target with your arms by your side and your gun in your holster. Lastly, set a timer for one-minute intervals. When the timer buzzes, draw your gun and fire one shot at the target.
Another popular drill among gun safe owners is the “Seven Dollar Drill.” Unlike the drill mentioned above, this drill helps one learn how to handle their weapon until a threat is neutralized. To run this drill, set up three targets (each one yard apart) about five yards away from you.
Next, set a timer for one-minute intervals. When the timer goes off, shoot at the left target once, the center target twice and the right target thrice. After you’ve progressed from left to right, fire four more shots at the center target and end the drill by hitting the left target five times.
